AOL UK bought by Carphone Warehouse
Not wishing to be left out of the buying hype, Carphone Warehouse today announced it's acquisition of AOL UK.
CW beat off competition from BSkyB to win the bid, which significantly expands their ADSL user base, raising them to the 3rd place player in the UK market.
In contrast to the GooTube deal, the £370m involved was all cash, contrasting with the all stock deal the other side of the Pond.

Well it was never exactly free.
It was an add on at no cost as part of a telephone deal.
What’s more interesting is that Carphone Warehouse is trialling their shop sales system in the US and meeting resistance from the major phone manufacturers and suppliers who do not like being compared with one another in an independent shop.
