Of course, if you compare it to several Christian-based religions in the US, you'd find that they have a year-round ban on the practice vs. just the one month off for Iranian Muslims.

Of course it does, the point of Ramadam is to deny yourself things - much like Lent - its pretty meaningless if you deny yourself a specific type of cake but get to eat everything else with impunity.

I think that masturbation is also generally not allowed (not just for Ramadan) in some sects. Again, isn't that the same with Catholisism? Your stats may not change as much as you imagine :)

If I recall correctly, normal sexual relations after sundown are acceptable during Ramadan. However, I'm not sure if that covers masturbation to be quite honest. I used to do a bit of reading on comparative religious studies but rusty on this topic.

Okay it was a slow few days for TW, I admit. And this particular THREAD is not too far from typical (lately) for TW. But the site it linked to was not worthy, IMHO, especially front page worthy. It reads like mocking, not reporting. It is so easy to mock *anything* so the choice of religion was not the issue... one could easily knock any "faith" but is that worthy of front page TW attention?

You can all do as you like, but I would have preferred to see TW keep the better stuff up front and leave the politics and humor off the front page. It's just marketing. This kind of stuff makes TW look like sophomoric to newsreaders and visitors. If that's what you want...

What I think a lot of people missed was the outside of the box thinking for niche research. As has been stated this isn't getting coverage anywhere else. So if the event will create an increased demand in a niche product and you can find a way to capitalize on it in the time period, you may want to go for it.

It's no different than building a Star Wars or Harry Potter site to tie in with a movie or book being released, except there will be a whole lot less people competing.

They've issued a fattywah and it got no coverage, which as a self-professed competitive webmaster seems right up your alley for exploitation.
