And Now For Something Completely Different
I had a lot of sympathy when John Andrews asked in his SEO and the curse of boredom blog at TW a few weeks ago "I think SEO has gotten boring. So, I ask those who know that of which I write, where's the thrill?". For me it is to do something entirely different.
One of the many advantages of running my own business is that, within reason, I can do as I please. Right now this means I have decided to forsake the lure of the computer screen for a while and ride a bicycle across Spain, from south to north.
Its a long way from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, but its an interesting route along the old Via de la Plata, through Seville, Salamanca and Santiago. En passant, they give you a nice latin certificate in Santiago if you have followed the pilgrim route sufficiently far. Armed with a state of the art cycle, an ipod, GPS and the means to stay in decent hotels, it is a little more comfortable that it would have been in the past, but a challenge never the less.
Other TW editors will each have to remove a few more of the increasing flood of assorted spam we get here.
Hasta Luego or as Oates said to Scott "'I am just going outside and may be some time.'

You're right Cornwall.. I
You're right Cornwall.. I don't really do SEO work anymore, but I've taken a four days a week "job" (sort of, as I'm still self-employed) and I spend at least the three remaining days on creative photography. Going back to my roots, so to speak, as I was pretty creative before I started on all this dull business stuff way back when. No big money in any of it, but I really like it.
My advice to anyone reading.. if you don't really enjoy what you do, find something else to do. I'm dead serious about this, it's just not worth it to do stuff you don't enjoy, no matter how much it pays you in money.
Funny how it goes. BonVoyage

I've wanted to walk the Camino Trail from east to west. Your trip sounds WONDERFUL!
Bring some good sunscreen.
You can break the addiction
Well almost. That´s 10 days without logging on, just clearing emails today for the first itme.
700 plus km into the cycle ride, its amazing how the body adapts. One can do 80 km, have a shower, and go out for for a late lunch without feeling knackered.
Awesome!
I completely agree on the boredom thing... when the game isn't challenging anymore, it becomes more like work and less like fun. And it's all about fun, baby!
Have a great trip! Be sure to take lots of pictures.
Of course if it were me, I'd turn it into a blogging trip because SEO or not, the Internet is an addiction that's hard to break...
Doesn't taking shower...
...halfway kinda "ruin the mood"?
