Now everyone can 'Google' pork spending

WASHINGTON — Taxpayers may soon be able to track how the federal government is spending their money with the click of computer mouse.

The idea is to open up the federal budget to greater scrutiny and hopefully prevent wasteful spending. Conservatives vow greater scrutiny of"pork barrel"spending while liberals hope to foster a greater appreciation of the good things that the government does.

I don't want to turn this into a political argument, but I think we'd have a very difficult time finding a Senator from any position on the political spectrum who isn't guilty of at least trying to send some pork to his/her state.

I'm actually interested in how this thing will work. Will the search engine be based on the text in a bill, or will the engine use its own set of meta data to track different projects?

To be fair

It was a conservative who tried to anonymously block this from passing.

I wonder if the conservitive

I wonder if the conservitive Senator tubes still is looking for a couple hundred million to build a bridge for 50 people.

Over half of discressionary spending goes on military costs and interest on war debt. Thats where the real waste is, anyhow.

keep borrow and spend in check

I'm all for it. There are no fiscal conservatives any more, we need a way to keep an eye on the borrow and spend Republicans.

Minnesota Pork Spending and Waste

Minnesota recieved 50 million in Pork money from the Goverment to expand a little used highway.

However the state needs to match the 50 million to make the project a go. So the orginal 50 million is on pause, sitting somewhere, adding no value to anything.

Meanwhile, a bypass next to my city is in jeopardy of going uncompleted because they under estimated [ by 10 million ] how much it would cost to complete.

This is after the Dept of Motor Vechicals has spent 100 million on the project.

They continue to work daily on the road that could become just a another road to nowhere.

The wasted Pork money can't be used on the project.

Doesn't matter which party gets the Pork, in the end it is all just wasted tax dollars out of our pockets.
