Saviour of the World or ...
.... the ultimate LinkBait ?
By placing an advert in the world renowned Economist asking for scientists to peer review a system of unlimited free energy you have to ask the question in the title.
Although I subscribe to the Economist I never noticed the ad but discussion is picking up in the world's media about Steorn
The discussion was even picked up at Syndk8, the BlackHat only forum where it was picked up by me.
Yahoo are reporting 310 links at present I'd like to see what happens in a month. If those links climb (and I suspect they will exponentially it looks like traditional media advertising leads to digital media linkbaiting.
If the system is the saviour of the world, I'll happily eat my hat (with its replacement produced using non polluting free energy) but I personally think this is link bait of the perfect variety. If the experiments show there is nothing in it then expect more links.
Kudos to the boys n gals at Steorn either way.

AM Radio
"revolutionary free energy technology"
Sounds like something I heard on Coast to Coast AM
You'll see that in the back
You'll see that in the back of Popular Science and Scientific American too. Sometimes the whacked out crazy ads in the back of PopSci are as much fun as the rest of the magazine.
So this is a linkbait to get
So this is a linkbait to get us to pay to access that blackhat site?
Yeah, you have to pay Jason
LOL
He's more expensive than a mere DMOZ editor, mind you

Whether this is the real
Whether this is the real deal or not, it is reasonably well established that micro generators with efficiencies in excess of 100% are possible, although so far the effects produced have never been suitable for scaling up to large scale production. There's also a severe lack of theoretical background to most of these devices, so serious scientific investigation is tricky.
Bear in mind that that doesn't mean there's nothing in it; most of the important advances in physics are originally demounced as impossible... right up to the point where someone produces iron-clad proof, and they suddenly become part of the accepted wisdom.
It's important to remember that we are only just beginning to get a good understanding of sub-atomic physics, and very recently, an old theory proposing 11 dimensions was resurrected. It has some significant advantages over currently accepted theory, and if it pans out, it may go a long way to explaining how a lot of these effects (zero-point energy etc) work, by allowing the existence of other, conected dimensions for us to "borrow" energy from.
As there are currently about 3 people on the planet who actually understand the science, it's not quite mainstream yet... but as it plugs some glaring holes in "traditional" quantum physics, it's a good candidate for our next step towards the truth
strange
Why do they pick so many staff who all share the same name?
(And that's another link. An internal one too!)
HUH? Look again
SAME STAFF NAMES; Pretty sure that's just multiple pics of the same folks?
As to the rest, I can understand a wait and see attitude with comments such as "conected dimensions for us to "borrow" energy from." or "it plugs some glaring holes" -- it sure sounds convenient now doesn't it?
What about "3 people on the planet who actually understand the science" --- So IS it a science then really? Or are there ONLY 3 PEOPLE whom BELIEVE in it?
hmmm curious it is my precious....
<sarcasm>
>Pretty sure that's just multiple pics of the same folks?
No kidding! :)
>> it sure sounds
> it sure sounds convenient now doesn't it?
LOL, yup. But it DOES do some jobs which no current theory can manage, such as accurately predict the weight of subatomic particles. It might not sound much, but it says that it may have a better fundamental insight into the real nature of the universe
> What about "3 people on the planet who actually understand the science"
I gather the mathematics is a bit abtruse, even by the standards of quantum mechanics - but the main issue is one of the way academia works. Students are taught what their instructors decide is true, and despite what you'd think, aren't really encouraged to question it.
Since the theory in question isn't well regarded, it isn't widely studied, therefore not many people can follow it, simple as that. If it pans out, it'll become well known, quite quickly
missing ingredient
> If those links climb (and I suspect they will exponentially ...
If they publish photographs of Paris Hilton's Previously Unknown Breast Enlargement....
If they publish photographs
With infinite free power anything is possible!

Not so long ago the saviours of the world were doing "e-commerce development" :)
