Google Checkout running into serious problems with retailers

It appears that Google Checkout is causing serious rifts with retailers, they don't want ownership of the customer to go to Google for example this is the lead of the article published on ZDNET: Google Checkout is against the best interests of merchants

Hit the Wall on Trust

They are tapped out on the trust factor. They missed the BIG one on the trust issue by trying to automate/ignore customer service procedures, although I'm sure the policies were adopted for the sake of efficiency its left anyone spending money with google with a less than delicious taste in their mouth. Its hard to trust people who ignore you.

The wise marketer calls CS "opportunity" they need to fire 1/2 of the Phds and throw the budget at people skills. The challenge long ago ceased to be technical, its purely social going forward but I'm afraid thats not in the algo, too scary for the metrics monkeys.

It's what I told you the first time I saw the Google Checkout, vendors want direct contact with customers and Google doesn't offer that. Ooopsie, maybe my 6 years developing ecommerce software gave me a clue that you can't get with a mail-order PhD, sorry Google.
