Apple Rumored to Bring Games to iPod

Gamespot reports that Apple appears to be looking to offer games on the iPod.

An Apple hiring manager named Mike Lampell is heading up a group inside Apple's storied iTunes division. The group is specifically hiring for "C/C++ coders with a ‘gaming background.’" The engineer says the project in question was described to him as "super secret," and Apple would not even tell him the exact nature of it until he had been hired and signed a non-disclosure agreement.

MIT Advertising Labs notes this could be interesting for those who advertise in games.

First, because where there are games, there's in-game advertising; and with 50M+ users, iPod could become an important platform for casual games.

Games, probably more than any other form of media, are collaborative and communicative endeavors, so it will be interesting to see if Apple strays from its traditional business model of selling media that only works on Apple devices that don't allow communication.

Here's the real news folks

It's not an 'Ipod'. It's not new. It's not cool. And it's no freakin' big deal.

It's called a sony walkman, and they were cool 25 years ago. Two and a half decades later and the best they can do is ad a 1" lcd screen and make it a bit smaller?

:)

Oh wheel

The sony walkman only held a few songs, that's why the new generation is COOL holding 1000s of songs. FWIW, the wife has an iPod, and not only is the UI crap (i hate it) but the damn thing has a bug and locked up the code that talks to the PC. She can't download more stuff to it without reformatting it from scratch.

It's crap I tell ya....

God bless Zen although it almost destroyed my computer installing their damn software.
