MySpace Makes More Money

As of a few days ago, Rupert Murdoch the Cyberpimp is Beginning to Turn Out MySpace.
So MySpace is going to sell episodes of hugely popular shows like "24" at $1.99 a shot in order to compete with monsters like iTunes.
And they're gonna tease us with a few free episodes. But apparently you have to watch Burger King commercials when you download these episodes.
MySpace, News Corp, Burger King. Interesting.

Of course I'm not sure what any of this has to do with search marketing, but I digress. :)
I think myspace should be
I think myspace should be considered a "Search engine" in the SEO sense of the word. They have more page views than google, so not to look at how to market to them would be remiss.
The hard part about MySpace
The hard part about MySpace is that the traffic is there doing everything but intending to buy something. Unless you are into ringtones, Myspace themes, and a few other things I've seen get traction.

It has echos of 1999 when all they talked about was eyeballs and clicks. I can't believe it's happening all over again.
Dumbasses.
Selling TV shows doesn't
Selling TV shows doesn't seem like a very good fit for myspace (except for the fact 24 is probably owned by News Corp, hence a good fit for Murdoch), which has notoriously high penetration with bands and musicians, and the 'hip' fashionable indie kids.
Boutique fashion ads and indie music would serve far better than TV, I'd wager.
I tried joining that thing
I tried joining that thing just to see for myself what it was... what a horror. Plus, I had spam in my mailbox before a week was over. (clarification: A notification from myspace containing spam that had arrived in my myspace inbox.. but the effect is still the same)
yeah... someone could
yeah... someone could probably make a pretty funny spoof called spamspace or myspamspace
IMO myspace had a lot of
IMO myspace had a lot of potential, and still kind of does, although i am shocked that their tolerance of spam and their horrendous usability has gone without much backlash.
