I downloaded IE7 a few weeks

I downloaded IE7 a few weeks ago (just curious, I'm a Firefox man) and the search box was already set to google. Does IE7 detect user settings from other user's browsers? Anyway, in this instance, MS did indeed respect my choice.


I think it copies over your

I think it copies over your settings from IE6, including search preferences. In IE6, if you do View > Explorer Bar > Search or ctrl-E, you'll get a search pane, where you can set a preferred SE. If you had that set to Google in 6, it probably just carries over to 7.

I think MS would have to actively block other search providers to incur the wrath of DOJ.
