Google Base Creeps Into Google Search

Google Base has begun creeping into Google's main search results. GoodROI points to this query that shows Base listings at the top of a Google SERP. Here's a screenshot as well.

So that is at least 2 verticals today! (finance and real estate)

So is this about providing a marketplace with better search queries and more usefully integrating data (and thus being more efficient and able to charge more for listings)?

I really can't see too many people clicking the buy now button on a house, but if you get in free that has to be a nice marketing vehicle.

I get a Google onebox for travel providers some of the time (which defaults to Expedia - not Google base though), and if I wrap it in quotes the #1 result is supplemental and says

Base listings have been showing in the product results at the top of the SERPs for a couple of months as well.
