New Ask.co.uk TV ad

watching the new Ask.co.uk TV ad today (the one that ends with if you don't ask, or some such) I noticed that it was shot in New Zealand.
This struck me as odd.

While I'm used to seeing US ads re-branded for the UK, and occasionally I'll see other EC nations do this I've never seen a global company like Ask use a New Zealand template for a major TV campaign.

Does any know why this is or if Ask have a strong presence in NZ?

BTW I am not knocking New Zealand, I'm Australian so I know that New Zealand never produce anything of value :)

Never produced anything of value.

What, you mean like Sir Les Patterson?

Re-Branding

From the UK I watch both Polish satelite TV and UK terrestrial TV and the number of ads, produced for products made all over the world, that are identical except for the voice over is astonishing.

lip sync

It drives me to despair how bad some of the lip syncs are.

The one for some lollipop makes me want to kick fuck out of the TV. Sorry but it does!

Ask Don't...

...have (much of) a presence in New Zealand. Perhaps it was cheaper to make it here, or they liked the scenery. Or the beer (unlikely)

>I know that New Zealand never produce anything of value

so you don't want to buy a sheepskin cover for your boomerang, then?

I Think

Barry Diller's parent company that owns ask.com is based in New Zealand.

I though "Sir Les Patterson"

I though "Sir Les Patterson" was Australian just like "Barry Humphries"

thanks streamline, that is exactly the thing I was hoping to find out. Do you know the name of that company?

the interesting fact about

the interesting fact about sheep searchengineblog, is that there are more sheep in Australia than NZ. They just have a higher sheep to human ratio
