MSN Adcenter not IE 7 compatible

SEO Training.

You must unconform to conform if you want to get your Adcenter accounts up and running.

Looks like you have to revert back to IE 6 if you want to get anything done in MSN Adcenter. I would suggest not to switch your user agent header to IE 6 using the FF UA switcher either, the styles on all the forms break and you get a lot of form layer overlap issues.

You know it's probably one of those little oversites that just get missed, but it's looking more and more like MSN's rush to kick Google's butt means sacrificing QA time on their SERPS and PPC programs.

Also

You can not use Firefox to access the MSN adcenter.

Firefox

I've never been able to get firefox to work either, so until MSN fixes this use the IE tab plugin

I noticed the same thing

This is definitely NOT good. You cannot use Firefox, you cannot use Netscape, and you absolutely use IE6, not even their latest browser. Thanks for posting the IE Tab plugin, graywolf--I wasn't aware of that one.

I shouldn't say this, but I

I shouldn't say this, but I find it rather mind-blowingly rich. Having inflicted IE's semi-non-standard display quirks on hapless web folk for years, they're now getting a taste of same.

Thing is, it's likely that among the first people to want to try their AdCenter are web geeks with the lastest version of IE or alternative browsers or both/all of the above.

To be honest, although I agree with some of MS' reasoning with respect to how certain styles should be written/displayed, the fact is that we have to code generally for all browsers ... and thus they ought to stick to the standards. Yes, they too have to code for cross-browser compliancy ... unless (unthinkably) they don't care what advertisers they bar due to poor coding issues.

So there's the tip: design and code for more standards-compliant browsers, and then tweak for IE.

And (if I'm understanding this correctly) stay away from strict doctype until the dust settles.

has anyone tried spoofing as IE6?

is it a code issue, or can you spoof IE6 with FF and do ok?

Original Version

I tried spoofing the UA on the original version and it didn't help, haven't tried the latest version though.

Spoophing the User Agent

Spoophing the User Agent does nothing for me in terms of functionality (Although I can get access).

Also, it's a shame but the IE tab plugin doesn't seem to work on Mac :/

You can spoof the UA in FF

You can spoof the UA in FF but like I said, good luck trying to fill out the forms. They break all apart and some are layered ontop of other fields.
