Well....

that's 48 minutes of my life I can't get back

He makes a good point - it's

He makes a good point - it's not the product, it's the marketing. I'm sure that many at Google know that, but the masses still think it's the product, not the marketing, that matters.

Free

Well I certainly wouldn't feel inclined to pay for it.

Liked the Lil' SEO Diss...

...about 24:00 min. in. Thanks G-dub.

lol, stuntdbl

"Click on one thing realize it is SEO and click back."

Well it was entertaining

Well it was entertaining anyway :-)

skip-edit-jump

I'm just curious what happend during the Q&A part did something get edited out, or was it just a technical error.

yeah, that was the good bit

yeah, that was the good bit they cut out no doubt :)

It was definately edited. It fades in, so someone has to have done it on purpose.

The thing about Seth Godin

The thing about Seth Godin is that he uses a lot of anecdotal stories to illustrate his points but he never really references anything verifiable. I like reading his ideas and stories but I don't trust him very much.

charming...

charming

click on one realize it was SEO and BACK OFF

How can someone so interested in marketing and viral marketing have such a persistent distaste for SEO? Does he really think most people question HOW the results got where they were?

I think he suffers from the symptom of reading his own stuff and believing in it to an undying level...and believing that it is the only way to do well.

Also what makes the paid ads any more relevant than the organic ones? Bad algorithms? Ignorant advertisers that don't ask questions?

old skool resistance

I wonder why I am so casual about possibly insulting one of the most capable marketers in the world...but anyway...

It seems to me to be a classic old skool problem. Anyone who doesn't play by the socio-professional rulebook is annoying, or is to be branded as such and discounted.

SEO, that wonderful place where you can win on merit and without giving a rat's ass about the status quo, must be really, really annoying to schmoozers and networkers. Terribly annoying. Painfully ungraceful.

Best Quote he made..

"This is a true story, if it weren't I'd make it up"

Pretty much sums up why I don't like him. He'll say anything to make a point.
