Painted Rooftops to Advertise in Google Maps
You have to give people credit for thinking outside of the box on this one. Turns out some stores are painting logos and signs on their rooftops to take advantage of satellite mapping services like Google Maps and MSN Earth. Let' hope Google doesn't start using crazy photoshop skills like they did to the White House Roof.

Not really
Someone may have done it for Google Maps, but not the Target store in question. That store is right by Chicago O'Hare in Rosemont (zoom out a bit and see). Planes fly about 100ft over that store and the Target logo was painted there purely to cater to them.
The amount of air traffic over that store is incredible.
Irony?
I know, it's their logo, but do they really want pilots to see a target on their roof? It could be viewed as a dare.
O'Hare
Yeah there are a couple of rooftop signs along the different O'Hare approaches. Nothing new except the big box stores have a lot more acreage of roof to paint than most buildings had in the old days.
>>dare.
Or some helicopter pilot will think it is a landing pad.
Planes fly about 100ft over
Or maybe it is for a great big bird.
If
I things keep going this way in the serps I will be painting a BIG FU on my rooftop for sure... ;-(
