The eponymous Craig of Craigslist interviewed

The BBC has a "this is Craig " feature, when he met the international press this week. Must say I did not know too much about Craig before and this article fills in a lot of background. Craigslist is the the seventh biggest presence on the internet, works out of his living room, and employes 19 people in total.

However, eBay did manage to buy 25% of the company in 2004, when a former employee unilaterally decided to sell his shares. Craig says the unexpected relationship has been beneficial so far.

"It may occur to you that we don't have much of a business plan, and you'd be right," he said.

I hope not too many TW readers have been bugging Craig

Quote:
He spends much of his time these days weeding out the minority of "bad guys" who lie and scam their way through Craigslist, but the whole ethos is about self-policing and communal values.

His site is a godsend to a lot of us

At least here in the Bay Area, many of us find our housing, our jobs, our furniture, our social events, and :cough: sometimes our dates through CraigsList. And while CraigsList has indeed expanded into a ton of cities, I'm sure its most popular still here in the Bay Area.

Seriously... I think even 90% of non-geeks... those with AOL accounts who log on weekly... still are huge CL fans here. It's amazing!
