Threadwatch Comes in Second

The results of the Search Engine Journal, Best Search Engine Community Blog of 2005 are in and here are the results:

Voting Results: In a Search Engine Journal reader poll, readers were asked to choose between these two quality search blogs. Results are listed in percentage of votes for each blog.

Search Engine Roundtable : 56.2%
Threadwatch : 43.8%

So while we placed second there's no need to be sore losers, and we congratulate Barry on his victory.

- Y! MyWeb

I think we should both take

I think we should both take first, the results were close enough.

Yeah....

...but TW comes in second and SERT shows as last but one, heh. (j/k)

good for tw.. but is it me,

good for tw.. but is it me, or no more interesting stuff appears here, ever since nick took to performancing.. i would hate for tw to die off.

its you :)

This is a group blog and any member can submit and comment. If its not interesting then we only have ourselves to blame, don't we?

Still as good as ever as far

Still as good as ever as far as I'm concerned - the only thing missing is a few expletives here and there.

The only thing missing...

And a few of these, as well: Heh.

I say TW is doing just fine.

Heh (by request)

The news posting is still first rate.

I concur....

...and if you really like I can work in a couple of Nick-isms for you wankers for old times' sake.

I miss the Threadjacking

I try whenever I have time... not just to post a bit of news with a link out, but to summarize the important parts (from a TW perspective), throwing in some editorial view regarding how/why/whether-or-not the news is "interesting". Since TWers have a rather unique perspective, this usually makes for a successful ThreadJack™ PLUS a comment thread more interesting than the original (at least to TWers, often to others).

As with all content, a post must have a purpose :-) My vote is that posts to TW have a purpose of stirring debate amongst the TW set, whether that be on-site or on the original site. I also think that if TW continues to do that, the fresh perspective brought to the discussion will garner it first prize in the SEO/SEM niche eventually.

John you gave me an insight

John you gave me an insight on what I have been missing. I couldn't really figure it out. Its not Nick, although he is neato and whatever..

Its that Threadwatch was a commentary on the comments and opinions of others, and not a news reporting site ( unless it was broken here ). Lately its become more of a "here is the evening news" type of site.

.just my opinion.

funny....

yeah, funny that. And perhaps more funny for me is how Nick went from being really good at on-point cynical comments about the commenters (especially bloggers) to being one of them and a supporter of them. On more than one occasion I have wanted to TW on Nick at performancing, but refrained ;-)

On more than one occasion I

On more than one occasion I have wanted to TW on Nick at performancing

Heh, turn the tables and threadjack™ the original wanker of threadjacking sounds like a plan

Have you read performancing

Have you read performancing ? There are a few bright points [ all of which seem to belong to Andy Hagans ] but seriously not much worth talking about. Mostly its discussion about Performancing.

I keep checking in though hoping to be suprised which Andy does from time to time.

I think all of you forget...

Had Aaron not taken over ThreadWatch, Nick was going to let it die. Yes, it has changed, but cut the guy a break.

Grnidone.. I think there was

Grnidone.. I think there was only one smart ass comment [the one that started this vein of discussion] in the whole thread. The rest have been constructive IMO..
