Pixel Banner Ads
Just to show that I do read some PR releases, I came across one for Pixel Banner Ads . The perpetrator claims not to be copying MillionDollarHomePage, but improving pixel advertising by blending it with banner adverts.
I am no expert in this area, anybody any views on it?
I am somewhat uncomfortable with companies that are anonymous (Chitika worries me), and this one is similar. Personally I don't invest in people with no address to send the lads with the baseball bats round to if there is a problem.

I am full on the pixel
I am full on the pixel people stuff.
I think the idea of mass ads stuck together in formats where there is little separation and they all compete for attention is so offensive that it will only work once...or needs to have the format changed significantly or a bunch of time to pass for it to work again.
Interesting idea. What's
Interesting idea. What's next? Contextual pixel ad delivery system ;)
Pity they have that FF overflow bug in the adverts though. Hopefully that is solved in the 1.5 release as well.
Now this is crazy
Look at what these guys are doing using pixel advertising...they are destroying a dodge VIPER
SITE URL REMOVED
Heh - yes I like that one.
Heh - yes I like that one. Pretty all or nothing really. Can't think of anything worse than having drilled 15 holes in your pride and joy for a few hundred bucks.
Maybe we should turn this thread into a 'pixel ad collection' - I hadn't realised this was such a fad.
In regard to PixelBannerAds - it's interesting that he has chosen to go with redirects rather than standard links.
Pixel Ads
Some others...... [URL's removed]
($6,900)
($40,200)
($137,000)
Seems this is becoming more and more popular.
There are over 1,000 pixel ad sites...
...and pretty much all but a couple have actually made any money.
There are a handful with pretty good PR (4 or more) with the original being a 7.
I read somewhere where some guy was faking having links to build popularity (like pretty much all but the original have done) only his links were from places like eBay, Microsoft, etc. on the day of his site going live.
There are a bunch of unscrupulous pixel ad site owners out there.
I do not really see a pixel ad advertising site making it unless there are deep discounts on the ads due to their size. For most sites, this would make them like $0.0002 per impression. Or they go the contextual route but then, without some verbiage, it may not be as useful for the advertiser.
Quite laughable if you ask me.

Too bad Nick wasn't running things today (no offense)...
...all those link above would be removed! ;) Reference to a tirade he had about 1.5 months ago or so.

They actually work...
On the [URL REMOVED] I was surprised to see how many clicks the ads are getting...If the traffic was as high as like million dollar homepage for example, I could see the ads getting ridiculous amounts of clicks.

Feel free to point out that you bought links on that Viper page as a "sponsor" and are a good friend of the owner.
It's a small world. I'm not only a member here, but a Moderator on the Viper forum.
What you're doing here is damn near comment spamming.
I am going to remove all
I am going to remove all pixel links from this thread because I hate all the shite clonesites
no fault to anyone, but I get the crap in my inbox and have had to delete the crap from my other blog about 100 times
even if the above posts are all 100% legit, they will surely inspire scamsters to come by and drop their marketing messages.
I would rather not support the pixel clonesites in any way
Yes...
Yes...and this is a thread about pixel advertising. Who better to comment if it works or not than somebody who has seen the results first hand? You can remove the links no problem, I can still discuss..
Does pixel advertsing work
Does pixel advertsing work for the advertisers or just the site owners? To me it seems like a one page directory...
What I was saying...
Was that as an advertiser on a pixel page, our unique visitors traffic quadrupled and pageviews doubled. I have a link to the graphic of our Google Analytics graph that shows this, but I don't want to post it publicly per the moderators/owners request.
I think the key to pixel
I think the key to pixel advertising is that there has to be enough hype off the start and few enough advertisers on the page for it to have any legitimate value.
As there are nearly 10,000 advertisers on a sold out page most of them are going to be wasting their money because the hype only lasts so long.
Agreed....but...
I can't comment on how exactly it is with a lot more advertisers on the page, and it also depends on how much traffic the site is pulling...but at a one-time cost, and depending on the size of your ad, your average CPC may be a lot lower than anywhere else. Easily less than a penny. Again, based on the stats I've seen.
based on the stats I've
but not based on the stats most will see from most of the sites.
you have to admit that in general most of the pixel sites are a scam that waste people's money.
there is only so many times people can sell the same (or nearly the same story) before it is ineffective.
Agreed
I totally agree....but if the site is generating enough traffic that it still works, no? The reason you are saying "there is only so many times people can sell the same (or nearly the same story) before it is ineffective." is only because all the other copy cats are not different enough for people to care about, right? So the site that I advertise on (you should remember the URL) is different enough of a concept, and is generating the press to be effective for advertisers. Or do you disagree?
it could be worthwhile...but
it could be worthwhile...but your point is the correct one...that there has to be something useful and original in the concept...most of the pixel sites don't have that on ANY level.
