Sandbox, TrustRank, Jagger Update

SEJ article by Rob Sullivan of Text Link Brokers gives you a fairly concise round up of the present situation with the Google algo. His conclusion is "Jagger is quite the update – forcing not only quantity but quality.. Time will tell.

Quote:
. What Jagger did was shrink those loopholes a bit more by forcing webmasters to quit swapping links, and encourage them to promote their sites using one way links from other trusted sites.

The Jagger update seems to have taken the aging factor and combined the TrustRank factor into one, forming a new age for Google.

In other words, sites have to reach a certain age AND acquire relevant links from authoritative sources. Further those links must also be aged before they are attributed to your site.

And includes the thought that we are all need to go back to those nice people at DMOZ now.

About damn time!!!

I kid, I kid. I personally would rather Google dropped any DMOZ influence on SERPS entirely. Maybe we'd get less spam and less harassment then

Hmm

If you've no trusted links except DMOZ and Yahoo listings probably you've bought a prolongation of Google's probation period.

Excuse me...

... what does it take to get my scraper site listed by DMOZ?

:-)

At least one bit of that

At least one bit of that article is sorta wrong IMHO

TrustRank takes PageRank a step further in that only sites considered authoritative and/or relevant to your site are used in assigning PageRank.

TrustRank is topic independant. It is about how to use human review to minimize some forms of link spam and maximize the value of editorial links from legit quality sites.

And a typo in the title...

Right

The TrustRank commonly being described *lately* and in conjunction with Jagger is not in-line with the algo described in the whitepapers... Your description was spot-on however. I've nearly not seen anyone mention the human review factor or sample set factor post Jagger.

And what form of PageRank was he reffering to "in assigning pagerank"? The green bar or internal, or???

That Mythological Sandbox

Just thought I'd stir the pot about the sandbox (SpamBox) as a couple of new web sites I launched, including my new blog, were not penalized in any way whatsoever. New sites and they floated right up in the ranks with only a couple of links.

The most recent got a top 10 keyword in less than 3 weeks and only 2 days after being crawled if you believe Google's cache dates.

So all this is pure speculation IMO but what do I know.

Guess if I ever got caught in the trap I'd be less skeptical.

IncrediBILL send the link

IncrediBILL send the link and the url so we can rip you apart

Such a sweet offer!

Don't know how I can pass it up but I will.

FYI, my hat is white in case you're wondering
