Now Christmas Is Being Auctioned Off
Well to be precise christmas.co.uk is being put up for sale . The url is "surplus to requirements" for the owner. With a reserve price of £100,000 ($180,000), he is not expecting great things for a good URL. The owner is well known as a bit of a cynic over Christmas.
Quote:
Mr Bottomley owns various festive domain names and makes his money selling phone calls and letters from Santa to children in the US and UK via sites such as www.santa-claus.com and www.santa.co.uk.He made headlines five years ago when he registered the phrases Santa Claus and Father Christmas as US trademarks under the name of US retailers. That involved the US trademark office formally recognising that Santa Claus was not a real person who would need to be consulted about the application.
Father Chrismas isn't a real person, sheesh what does he know? Santa certainly came here last year.

That is what Christmas is all about, RIGHT?
A phone call from santa? Umm...
