Google Patent : User Profiling in Organic Results

This is gonna set SEO heads spinning. Google aims to bring personalized search to the public whether the public likes it or not. Google has filed for a patent to manipulate search rankings and results with variables from user profiles which are built via advertising and application usage tracking.

Google says they can even identify users via mouse and typing behavior.

This time its organic :)

No, we just analyze and adapt as we have always done. Thats the nature of SEO! :)

I'm going to have to type like a dur-brain to reach my audience now? Darn it!

yeh, i'll have to setup a whole proxy system and fake account just to EMULATE THE USERS OF ONE OF MY SITES!!!!!!!!!

I'll not hold my breath

until they manage to identify click bots via 'mouse' and clicking behaviour.

Funny though, I was talking to someone about how possible it would ever be to emulate genuine surfer behaviour (scrolling up and down, highlighting blocks of text, clicking on blocks of text as you reach them etc) - it all varies by type of site/page as well as by user. Perhaps creating SurferBots will be the next big thing in BH SEO (if so 'twas my idea and I'd like 10% of the profits please :) )

I can tell you, google is very intent on collecting user info, I have a list of 32 google domains that I have blocked from planting those life time cookies on my machines.

GoogleTalk? :p

I think it's quite eerie I can't seem to disable/kill "Personalized search (Beta)", even if I click the allegedly correct buttons...

They're working on it alright...

pay no attention

LOOK! OVER HERE!

I assume the good stuff (the real trouble IMHO) is elsewhere, and not being discussed.

Let's see... "we can id you by your typing or mouse movements" ooooh... scary, high-tech, advanced, AMAZING, press worthy. But really, without active AJAX or Toolbar, how can they do that in a meaningful way?

"we just cut a deal with Axciom to mine their credit repository in real time" (I just made that up) - now THAT would be scary.

Anybody think that is NOT going on, or likely to happen?

it's all compost

Google says they can even identify users via mouse and typing behavior.

So would it not be reasonable for advertisers to demand that this technology be applied to combatting clickfraud?

mine their credit repository

30 million AOL users would be a good start.
