SEO Links: Firefox Extension that ROCKS

seo linksOooooooooh I think you guys are gonna like this! Nullbit has produced the SEOLinks Firefox Extension, an extension that allows you to hover over any link on a page and get linkage data from Google, Yahoo and MSN. It's slightly rough round the edges, for a time i thought it wasn't working, but it was like it needed to "warm up" heh.. as it works now, but overall, it's a very, very neat little app.

It'll also give you ranking dat across those engines for the anchor text / desination of the link you're hovering over. Very nice indeed.

No wonder I never get any work done..

.. I get to TW, see these gizmos that I got to try, and bang goes another hour or so.

This appears to be really neat on first trying.

Probably me, but I don't see how to toggle just this tool on and off

Under tools, it says

Under tools, it says "disable seolinks" - which is a bit naff as it says that regardless of whether it is enabled or diasbled. A context switch would be much better.

Also it would be nice to get additional info like technorati links and whether it's nofollow or not....

Toggle on/off

if you look in the bottom right of the statusbar you'll see a icon (3 coloured balls), hitting this will toggle it on/off.

Heh so true Cornwall. Even worse, Anna is cleaning the appartment and thinks I'm working! :)

Nice find Nick, thanks.

/off to do something more productive...

I kept it simple to test the water, but anyone with programming knowledge has my permission to extend the features and redistribute it.

nullbit

Nice piece of kit. Thanks.

Google History

Problem is that your personalised GOOG history now show hundreds of saved searches with this extension installed.

Solutions anyone?

Very nice

A very handy little tool indeed, and not dirt slow like I expected it to be!

A few suggestions:
-secondary options for
link:example.com -domain:example.com
linkdomain:example.com -domain:example.com

Sometimes the internal links skew the #'s a bit, but sometimes they're necessary.

Thanks for saving those of use who already spend too much time online a few nanoseconds several times per day:)

Thanks nullbit & Nick

Very useful "research" tool!

True value

i've just discovered we rank #2 for bollocks in Y! :)

just discovered...

>>>>i've just discovered we rank #2 for bollocks in Y! :)

and we are featured in Wikipedia.

let's get this one to the bloggers...

maybe convert it to a Flock extension? Let's get the bloggers using it so such activity becomes commonplace. Otherwise you stickout like a sore thumb hitting the SEs with caustic AJAX all day long.

Flock extension?

I'm just trying to determine if Flock is a noun or a verb, like telling bloggers to "go Flock themselves", but I digress.

Flock extensions

Sure. There's the Adsense Notifier extension for Flock, Developer Extensions has been converted, as has HTTP Live Headers. There are many more, including a conversion hack and binary converter.

Of course this is all Web2.0, so none of these are official versions and who the hell knows if spyware/malware/trojanware has been injected or not. But caring about stuff like that is soooooo Web1.0. If you're being careful, you're simply too slow for Web2-dot-oh!

re: Flock Extensions

You probably need to use Yahoo! to look for Flock stuff, since it's all less than a year old and not indexed in Google (lol).

Let's see... that's three internal backlinks for Nick with anchor text "Flock Extensions" (errr... make that four). How we doin?

nullbit nice extension, but

nullbit nice extension, but it’s a bit disconcerting when, er, your balls seem to jiggle around!
