DMOZ Editor Accounts on eBay

As pointed out by EGOL from SEOChat, our much-loved overt blackhat is selling one of his DMOZ editorships. Of course: buyer beware! You should be really careful not to draw attention, because the regular dmoz posse will be all over you before you can say "spam control".

Bidding on Ebay. No bids yet but it's early days...

If there's one thing

If there's one thing SeoBlackHat's good at, it's grabbing headlines - blackhat SEO activities aside, he's a marketing pro!

$31 so far. If this takes a decent price I can see a flood of (spare) editor logins coming onto the ebay market. Maybe this is exactly what ebay needs to open up - a bit of free capitalism eh? ;)

Bids are TOO LOW

9. Can I make money as a DMOZ editor?

People understand that the DMOZ is corrupt and will often attempt to bribe you.  When you are with a corporate client, you can easily charge $1,000 or more for a DMOZ listing. It is both that important and extremely difficult to get listed.

True MrMacklin - still 9

True MrMacklin - still 9 days 17hrs to go.

I'd be worried about it being revoked after payment, like you say Wit. The DMOZ people must be trying to find ways to identify and cancel that account.

one would assume one of his other accounts also has edit privileges for this cat, else he'd be losing out on that potential share of earnings. Although, he states in his (contradiction-ridden) item description that this isn't a lucrative category - so I doubt any site wanting to be in it is going to be paying that kind of money...

I got bid out

I got bid out just over $100. Too rich for my blood.

How high will it go?

Start the pool now. My guess: $2200

I'll take $1400 Nebraska :)

I'm feeling lucky....

Account suspended

Seller's account is suspended, apparently. Did it really contravene eBay rules?

My dreams

That is the only place where I ever get a DMOZ listing. I thought I had a crack at it with this auction...

damn

shoulda had a buy it now.

I guess it's still for sale...

...at the website of the seller ;-)

Who needs ebay anyway LOL

Having recently been

Having recently been appointed an editor, I find it both amazing, and appalling, that people would splash that kinda cash on an account; only to abuse it and the good nature of DMOZ once you get it. You don't even know what cat that would have been for!

Good nature of DMOZ?

You must be new at this.

bradley understand that the DMOZ is corrupt

Would that be all people, all people you know, or all people who can't get a listing ?

Not sure who you are

Not sure who you are speaking to there Eddie? MrMackin was quoting the original article.

We're not bitter, don't worry, there's enough blackmarket DMOZ editorships going round for everyone now ... ;)

Not sure who you are speaking to there Eddie?

Why Bradley of course.

Enjoy the accounts, but as everyone here keeps saying how unimportant dmoz is now, why on earth bother ?

What category?

>Having recently been appointed an editor...

Can we make money by being in your CAT ?

or is it dmoz.org/Society/Advice/Members_Only/
