Heat Map for Adsense on Forums, Few Surpises

Sandra from the Adsense team has posted this heatmap for adsense placement on forums and given 6 tips for better performance. It's not exactly shocker of the century to find out that a skyscraper on the left, and leaderboards above or beneath the first post do well, but it's a nice post with some value regardless.
For what it's worth, here's how the Adsense currently works at Threadwatch:

• Wide Skysraper on left of all pages - 0.3% Sept.
• Large Rectangle underneath post titles to non logged in readers on posts older than 1day - 2.2% Sept

Which is quite unsurprising, this site does NOT have a tight focus and many (most) of the posts are "news" and worse, not often news about specific products.
In contrast, a health related site i run does rather better:

• Wide Skyscraper on the left - 1.3% Sept.
• Large Rectangle underneath posts - 6.2%

It's a tightly focused community site, and unsurprisingly does much better, pound for pound, than TW. There is probably a ton of things i could do to increase that sites performance, but it's really a labour of love, and i just can't be bothered to spend a lot of time on ads - MSN and Yahoo! love it, Google hates it of course, as it's only a couple of years old and doesn't have too many links :) - you'll just have to trust me when i say that it's the best resource of it's type, in that space hehe..
Left hand column is best?
It rather looks like they just guessed that map hehe.. best place is the left column? Not only does that not fit my experience, on a tech savvy site and on a very NON tech savvy site, but it goes against all common sense!
Regulars tune that out very, very easily...
