Mobile Marketing Card + Broken Site = Bad Marketing

I was really excited when I read the press release: Tiny rCard Offers Cool New Marketing Tool for Corporations. At $25 each, the rCard can deliver streaming video, photos and graphics on a credit card sized device.

Unlike thumb-drive USBs and business card CD-ROMs, the rCard doesn't require a computer to access or technological skill to use. The rCard's content is accessed by an intuitive, thumb-controlled navigation button. The fully portable rCard makes it easy to transport and share information with others.

Wow! My mind was spinning: "Imagine the content a business could deliver at a low cost; anytime, anywhere", "I wonder if you can hack it?" and "Ooh, I'll have the coolest business cards on the block." Cool huh? Then I went to the website to get more information….

I filled out the form, wrote a gushing email about how, it's about time that a product like this came out and I'd love more info, yadda, yadda, yadda, pressed send, and got the following error message:

The following REQUIRED field(s) were left empty:
Address, City, State, Zip

Too bad there weren't fields for these items on the form. And too bad the form wouldn't complete. That press release came out a few days ago so imagine the number of lost leads.

If you’re going to take the time to create an excellent product (one I’ve been waiting for) and send out press releases, the least you can do is test the forms on your site.

As Caveman said:

There's an odd tendency in the tech world for some to think that basic tenets of marketing... don't matter....

Love those cards

I saw them and the ones that Rueters gave out at the recent AdWeek in NY that worked with your phone and told you the schedule, speakers etc... was looking into them myself for various business apps....

An environmental question ...

What can be done with these cards after they've outlived their marketing purpose?

Are their components designed to recycle easily?

They "Seem" Really Cool But...

Buckworks, those a great questions... hope someone at CEOIQ will answer them...

I sent a courtesy email letting them know that their contact form is broken to the email addresses on the site and the PR person… yet it is still broken. So while I would love to email them those questions, I feel it’d be wasting my time. I did some searches for additional information and couldn't find any non-PR information. I thought about calling them but I read here that others haven't had much luck.

AussieWebmaster, let me know if you get in touch with anyone there.
