Yahoo! Search Marketing to Upgrade October 1

The next major implementation of Yahoo! Search's ongoing replacing of the Overture PPC platform will be rolled out on October 1. "The Blob" as the Overture system is affectionately called will not be missed.
The increase in users and increased keywords in many accounts has seen a demand the Overture system has had problems with.
The promise of multiple ad serving has been mentioned in the past but I have been told it is being worked on and a launch some time in Q! 06 a strong possibility.

Is this the change towards algo based ranking instead of a straight auction? If so, what horrible timing on Yahoo's part.
October Update
It will be some major changes to the actual database and integration of the backend to avoid the recent spate of problems with access etc.
