According to a press release this morning, Google has hired Vint Cerf , in a "defection" from his previous post at MCI.
Cerf "expects to spend much of his time developing new applications as Google continues to supplement the search engine that is core to the 7-year-old company."

Saw that too.
Seems like a vanity hire on googles part. I breifly looked through his bio on several sites and it didn't seem like he had worked on anything "incredible" in awhile.
The guy is obviously brilliant though. Perhaps he moved to do interesting work, he did call them, and the WSJ article alluded to that.
