Straight from the underpants on head department™ comes this little round of drug induced stupidity - Google are to buy Reuters. Pull the other one, it plays fucking jingle bells...

Reuters (RTRSY) gains amid speculation Google (GOOG) is interested in it, say traders. Analyst says that although Google does have a war chest, it is as yet unclear what kind of an acquisition strategy it may have.
Unclear? Unclear? I'll bet it's bloody unclear - knobheads.

The search engine recently announced plans to raise $4bn (£2.2bn) through a secondary share issue, a move that triggered speculation that the company, which already has $3bn on its balance sheet, is to hit the acquisition trial.

However, analysts reckon Google is more likely to follow rival Yahoo! and use its cash resources to buy overseas, possibly in China.
Ahhh.. the voice of reason. Doesn't that sound just a little bit more likely?
GOOG will prolly go ahead and buy it now i've stuck my neck out, but that's ok - that'd make a fun story too heh...

They cant moneterize Google News because of all the copyright crap, and yet I'd imagine it would be a leading new page on the net in terms of traffic: buy one of the main content providers, and put a condition on the companies using Reuters wire stories that they must allow Google News links.....bingo. They can moneterize Google News and make even more billions through Reuters as well. Theres not a country on the planet that doesn't take a Reuter feed, and hardly one left that doesn't have a local Google variation based on language or similar, seems like a good fit to me.
