No Scoble, you only got it half right...

Story Text:
Here's an interesting little fight. scoble slaps Duncan over "free speach on blogs" - they're talking about SEOBOOK getting sued by the trafficpower/1p fuckwits.
Duncan said:

Robert Scoble, in a fit of insanity is suggesting that the solution is to moderate or turn off your comments. How bout free speech Scoble?

and Scoble reply's

Here's a clue: you want free speech? Get your own blog. Comments are owned by the person who's blog they are on. They aren't a place you're gonna get free speech (although, my policy here is to not delete any comment).

Thing is, they've both got it half right. But both of them are wrong.
Scoble clearly doesn't understand the enormous problem that companies like TP/1p pose to unsuspecting businesses - and the seo industry in general. But Duncan takes it too far, by claiming "free speech" - in that respect, Scoble has it right: There is no shuch thing as free speech on someone else's website.
Part of the problem in this little spat is that Scoble is commenting on something he clearly knows nothing about. It's a symptomatic problem of "rapid publishing" - blogs are particularly suceptable to bullshit laden posts full of opinion, and lacking in understanding for fact - and yes, im guilty aswell on occasion - but Duncan chose the wrong angle to argue - you cant win that free speech thing, Scoble's right, but you can with the "you twat, what the fuck are you talking about" argument, 'cos it's much simpler, and spot on.
