Technorati Partners with Newsweek
Story Text:
Dave Sifry announced today that Newsweek has Partnered with Technorati. The integration is pretty intresting, if you are reading a story online at Newsweek, like Is Your Tap Water Safe to Drink down on the right hand side you'll see a link titled 'blog talk' taking you to the Blog Talk page with links to blogs about the article. There is also Blog Roundup Page with the top Newsweek Stories from the blogoshere.

It's an interestingly *big*

It's an interestingly *big* move for sure - but isn't this just the same as if i linked posts to their search urls at technorati?

I'd harp on about it aswell if i was technorati, but what's the real deal here - was money involved?

Curb Appeal

I think it's curb appeal. Trying to dress the place up and make it attractive for one of the big guys to snatch up. Once one of them announces a "blog search" everybody will have to have one.

still not working

before I started ranting about how bad the link results are at Technorati I went and checked before typing this comment to see if they'd improved: nope. They still suck. My link counter there is still showing the same figure it was 2 weeks ago and I'm showing about a 1/10 of the links I'm showing incoming using Feedster for the last 24 hours. They should be spending less time doing these "we look good" deals and more time delivering better results because when all their competitors are totally whipping their arse and the renewal comes up its doesn't take blind freedy to work out that Newsweek and others will take their business elsewhere.

five of the twelve blogs

five of the twelve blogs talking about tap water and whether its safe are entries in a painfully obvious spam blog. A sixth blog talking about it is, lo and behold, Threadwatch; but we were actually not talking about bottled water, until this point.

High quality results indeed.

and the moral is

so I guess the water's not safe to drink? ;-)
