PSP in Search Deal?
There's some speculation as to exactly why the US rollout of the PSP 2.0 firmware has delayed. The firmware includes a browser, and if you look at the official reason given for the delay, there's an interesting little tidbit it there.
The PSP Firmware 2.0 Upgrade for the North American market will be available during the week of August 15th, instead of on August 12, as previously reported.
Designed to compliment the comprehensive entertainment experience of games, movies, music, photos and wireless connectivity provided by the revolutionary portable device, the firmware 2.0 upgrade will allow users to take advantage of the unit’s built-in Wi-Fi capability and wirelessly search the Internet from Internet Access Points or hot spots. The firmware 2.0 upgrade will be available for download directly to a PSP using a Wi-Fi connection or downloaded to a PC from http://us.playstation.com/psp and transferred to a PSP through a USB cable.
So, has one of the major engines been busy making a deal with Sony to have their Search pre-installed? It would be a massive coup, and would very much suit either Google or Yahoo! to be associated with such a device...
