Damn lies or true? Seems Linus is cashing in on Linux finally ... by suing companies using the name

MORE THAN 90 Australian companies have been asked to pay a licence fee for Linux software in a move apparently backed by the software’s eminence grise, Linus Torvalds.
Letters demanding US$5000 for use of the Linux name were originally dismissed as a hoax. But according to the Sydney Morning Herald, the Open Sauce king is dead serious.

.. could it be that Linus Torvalds is not against making a buck or two?
/. seem to have taken the news well ..

It's true, in part

I read it in hard copy either in the West Australian or the Australian's IT liftout Tuesday. It was registered by some Linux user group based out of my capital city (Perth). They registered the trade mark after some company in Adelaide try to set up a similarly based name for their company. My understanding is they've sent the letters to Australian companies using Linux but for memory it was $2-$5k Australian Dollars not US dollars.
