At the Las Vegas Defcon hacking conference a few weeks ago some 'hacker' apparently created and presented a powerpoint presentation on 'hacking google adwords'. Here is an article and this is the actual presentation.

Aren't y'all talking about two different...

The Defcon presentation (which isn't terribly interesting IMO) was about exploiting the (brief) interlude between Adwords campaigns getting started and getting cut off for violating terms. Nothing new at all, just some dude who got chapped at Google and linked to by a bunch of folks who (for the most part) didn't see the presentation or understand it if they did.

The Engadget/Adsense situation is not the same thing, although it's similar in one sense... the blogosphere rages in familiar "tempest in a teapot" fashion over something that happens with a lot of large sites that drive a lot of traffic & generate a lot of profits for Google. "Evil" is a sliding scale based on income, at least on the paid side of the 'Plex.
