- Y! MyWeb

Any other link
But to SEW, and I'd go read it. Sorry, SEW is an exercise in what NOT TO DO with regard to website creation. BLINK BLINK. SEW is the gaudy whore of SEO sites. Chroma Foil on a dashboard. Velvet Elvis. Etc. ;)
Basically, he says to be honest and grovel...
Appropriately so.
Otherwise, yes, I agree. It's rough to read the posts there.
'Nuff said.
each to their own
It may not be a busy forum what has 1,000's of newbie dickheads asking the same shite over and over again and wanting the information handed to them on a plate instead of doing their own homework but at least the guy in charge has a personalty second to NONE.
unlike some forum owners who you will find more personalty in a house brick....
Now that said I dont think it matters where you get the information as long as you find it
It may not be a busy forum
Ahh, but it's aspiring to that grand status mick.
No arguments there. But i've never been bothered by the ads, more the slightly plastic feel of the place.
As for groveling, i'd sooner lose the site, but then i don't expect GOOG would actually require it either - i may / we may have a pop at them on a fairly regular basis, but they're not complete aresholes...
>>SEW is an exercise in what

well whatever % of the £43million the nasty flashing website may have represented it clearly works for some :)
Aww C'mon
Nick certainly has more personality than THAT! ;-)
Yeah, don't diss him...
...now that he's away - LOL
Jill, where do you think he belongs then, on a brick to Danny S scale?
Forgive the intrusion ...
but, hasn't this thread gone a bit OT? ;-)
stuntdubl, I guess people would rather gossip than sort out what to do after they've been bad. Hehe. I for one like your reinclusion guide. If I ever get a site banned, I'll try out your suggestions and let you know how it goes. :p
sewing circle
Haha...the original thread strayed a bit too, but I guess that's to be expected. Was really hopin' to get more of a dialogue than just give a "guide". I was really askin' the question of others more than anything.
Anyhow, I like givin' Nick a hard time that he called this place threadwatch because SEO's are worse than a sewing circle...hehe...gossip and chatter is fun too:)
DG. Agreed, SEW is a bit harsh, but the information is worth it...get the rss feed, then you only have to stop by when it really justifies it;). The different policies (like bein' able to post part of an e-mail) make it better suited to different types of discussions sometimes as well.
Just Frustration
Since I moved to a satellite connection, I really learned to value quick-loading sites. And I've always hated blinking ads. Much worse when there's 5 or 6 of them on a page. I certainly didn't mean to slight the quality of information found there or Danny, who from all accounts is considered a stand-up guy. Just that the place reminds me of a library lit with neon lights. ;)
As for reinclusion, the only thing I know to do is clean up whatever mess caused the ban and politely ask for reinclusion. I've seen sites restored, but never to their former glory, if, what caused the ban violated TOS. Then again, it was always easier to create another site and work on it rather than deal with trying to restore one.
Not possible if you're dealing with branded domains. Then it's back to hat in hand and groveling. I don't grovel well.
blink
(1) about:config
(2) image.animation_mode --> none
(3) no more blinking.
I never saw those blinking ads on SEW myself. OTOH, I agree that the pages load way too slow; in fact that's the main reason why I'm not visiting that site more frequently than I am.

Yeah, I had the dreaded PR0 handed to my site several years ago for "link farming."
I showed up at WMW Boston and stood in line for hours to meet Matt Cutts. (Of course, I was wasted at the time and barely managed to speak coherently and give him a business card with the domain name hand written.)
Anyway, six weeks later, we were back to our previous glory. Yup, FORMER GLORY! One of my friends (and competitor who jumped into the same bad deal) showed up in Orlando. He talked to Matt, and, six weeks later he was back to the same glory.
I've talked to several folks who did the same stupid thing as me and after talking to Matt, things were glorious again.
So, in summary, you can get back!
