Publishers Welcome?
do you guys know if they will be offering an adsense alternative (a publishers area for the program) or will it be set up more like overture?
I'm guessing yes: They own
I'm guessing yes: They own this company
Paying more for same position?
It's still very beta, but from what I've heard, if Ask will make more on a search by showing Google ads in top positions, then they'll show Google - if they make more showing Ask, then they show ask.
Therefore, it seems if you bid at ask, you have to outbid your own Google ads.
Does this really make sense to attract new advertisers?
still beta, but eventually...
Well that doesn't account for Google's cut (which has to be at least 10 - 20%).
Also don't forget that in some verticals Ask might have traffic worth more than the average search traffic, which they may only sell to their own advertisers. What happens if they show Ask powered contextual advertising to sold out events on TicketMaster.com?
eWhisper makes a good point
If Google ads generally reflect the end result of competitive bidding with consideration for ROI, then it follows that anything bid on Ask may exceed the threshold at which PPC is profitable, if the top bid on AdWords in fact reflects the price at which you get diminishing to zero roi.
On the other hand, if Ask traffic converts better than the general Google traffic, bidding on Ask actually makes sense.
Interesting stuff about ASK
Interesting stuff about ASK dropping many paid spots this week. Also, FT and SERoundtable
