A fun thread at webmasterworld has members posting their tips for affiliate success. The thread starter kicks off with three very simple ones to keep you focused:

  1. Increasing the number of customers you serve
  2. Increasing the commission % you receive
  3. Increasing the frequency of your orders (repeat traffic etc.)

and a little further in, affiliate heavyweight Drastic weighs in with his personal success recipe:

  1. Understand or find a topic that may do well.
  2. Build site on that topic
  3. Get traffic to the site
  4. Monetize the traffic with what makes the most sense.
  5. Tweak and test your monetization with different aff programs, contextual, whatever.
  6. Repeat 5 until you have maxed the potential, including getting better deals from aff partners.
  7. Start over with nubmer 1 - new site.

There are no magic bullets, or secret tips in this thread, but it's a good read for anyone i think, it certainly made me think a little this morning. Enjoy...

Just read that thread too. Made me start thinking (again). Actually, I just need somebody to give me a quick kick in the ass to get rolling. I am severely lacking motivation.

Aren't those tips just basic marketing, whatever kind of product or service you're pushing online or offline?

I'm surprised the kind of threads that get attention at WMW and it gives me the impression it's overflowing with newbies. Probably the reason I don't read it much anymore.

2. Get out the site generation/scraper script, create a 10,000 page scraper site (insert your money keywords).

3. Start 302ing all your competition, be sure to direct links to your competitions conical thingie.

4. Stomp those cookies! - get your cookie planted no matter what (or plant your aff id in the existing cookie)

5. Use whatever affiliate program that is going to pay the most and pay on time, every time. (make sure the aff program don't ask any questions)

6. Un-necessary step - kick back relax - knock back a few or burn one.

7. Find some different big money keywords to go after and repeat.

I'm a newbie at this affiliate crap. Been around forever...just trying to get motivated to make some bucks on my own, instead of my boss getting all the cash. MrMackin, please kick (or slap) me hard!
