Hotmail not working with FireFox

Story Text:
Just got the following message when logging into Hotmail with FireFox:

Web Browser Software Limitations
Your Current Software May Limit Your Ability to Use Hotmail
You are using a web browser that Hotmail does not support. If you continue to use your current browser software we cannot guarantee that Hotmail will work correctly for you.
We recommend that you upgrade your web browsing software and invite you to download Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

Usually I go into hotmail direct from MSN Messenger - and by default it launches IE.
Sure enough, certain things aren't working now with Firefox.
Bloody annoying.

- Y! MyWeb

I've heard of them doing

I've heard of them doing this with Opera, at least twice in the past - on one particularly well known occasion, hotmail would not work for Opera users just hours after a new version of Opera came out. It would be hard to say it had been anything but a direct knobbling by M$

Can we have some confirms that this is a) New and b) 100% correct, then we'll homepage it...

Cheers Adam!

direct knobbling

exactly what I was thinking

Is a disposable email address used for directory submissions and the like, so am more likely to dump that than dump the browser.

hotmail works w FireFox

hotmail works w FireFox 1.0.3 for me

just worked w FireFox 1.0.4

just worked w FireFox 1.0.4 for me

ahh... user agent

Just tried again and had the same problem.

Then realised I had my user agent set as googlebot. Switched it back to default, and had no problem.

So Firefox OK, Googlebot not. Fair enough, I s'pose.

heh! That's kinda funny :)

Grin.

It has in fact become my standard procedure to:

1) check my UA-string if a website's not working
2) check my spam filters if I haven't got an official email I was expecting

Nowadays, this happens a lot ;-)
