Flickr Testing Both Google AdSense and Yahoo Contextual Ads
Story Text:
Flickr is testing both Google AdSense ads and Yahoo Search Marketing Contextual Ads.

Yahoo is testing both Google AdSense ads and Yahoo Search Marketing Contextual Ads on Flickr to possibly determine and compare the revenue generated by each contextual advertising network as part of Yahoo Search Marketing’s plans to unveil their own Yahoo Publisher’s advertising.

LOL, isn't that against AdSense T&C's?

Quote:
We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. If you have elected to receive contextually-targeted Google ads, this would include all other contextually-targeted ads or links on the same page as Google ads.

Unless they are only testing one service per page.... which would reduce the validity of the test, wouldn't it? No like for like comparison...

Seems that they don't show

Seems that they don't show the ads on the same page

Doesn't that reduce the validity of the test then?

After all, different pages will perform differently anyway... not getting comparative data will reduce the value of the test quite a bit, IMO. You might still get the right answer, but you could never be SURE...

Relevancy and earnings...

I believe they are comparing ad relevancy and earnings. Flickr, which was purchased by Yahoo in March, has been testing this for a couple of months now. It rotates between Yahoo, AdSense and no ads.

I compared the relevancy between the two sets of ads on about a dozen or so Flickr pages last month and Yahoo definitely needs some work on this.

Takes a headline to get

Takes a headline to get attention eh? We discussed this ages ago, in another thread :)

>I believe they are

I believe they are comparing ad relevancy and earnings
Yes Jeanstar this is what Yahoo says, but it's curious that they are testing both at the same time.
Seems ads are been shown random, i don't know how can they compare them
