Google Planning Pay-Per-Sale Model?
Story Text:
Michael Nguyen has an interesting take on Google Wallet. Eric Schmidt has already said that they won't be destroying eBay, at least not yet, so how about a cost-per-sale system?

I think Google’s initial use of a payment system is to add a pay-per-sale model to their current pay-per-click advertising network. Merchants using AdWords to advertise and Google Wallet to process their sales will be able to track which ads lead directly to sales and at what cost. Merchants will be able to tap into the power of large scale affiliate marketing (ala Commission Junction). Publishers can then choose between which model to promote - AdSense for clicks or AdSense for sales.

I was going to say that that would cause a few shake ups, but at this size, and popularity, anything GOOG do shakes things up a bit eh?

Interesting

Google anti-affiliates but not the affiliate *model* :O)

Not been following the

Not been following the threads about Google Wallet, but has anyone thought that this might be something they would use, to allow people pay for their adwords and other google services using their adsense dollars?

yeah, a few people have

yeah, a few people have mentioned that, it would seem a sensible thing wouldn't it?

Take on PayPal and eBay

I would like to see Google and MSN for that matter take on PayPal and offer a better service in more currencies in a more flexible / seamless format, easier to integrate etc.

I'd also like to see Google take on eBay generally. More competition is better for everyone involved.

I'm a Social Worker and die hard capitalist too - how can I live with myself! lol. Go free market competition, go you good thing!

micropayments

It could be a back door to the micropayments goldmine. If Google is big enough, could it become an alternative currency for micropayments? I suggest that gmail and every other G-personalization supports the idea that G becomes your bank for all the nickels, dimes, and dollars you can collect via the web. Good luck with the US regulatory issues.
