I've seen this a few time this week but didn't want to drag somebody into the spotlight about it. Now that Scientific American is doing it I figure it's fair game. I've seen at least three rss updates this week from them that were straight advertising, no thinly disguised content, just straight ads. Not sure how to actually link to it so here's a screen shot from bloglines.

this is bad for rss, but
this is bad for rss, but i've sseen great results for affiliates. join 3 competing affiliate programs, slap their content on the same page and magically you have a product comparison page that users love.

Just list 3 programs, with the cheapest/best copy being the middle one - works a treat :)
Happens all over the shop... a company i used to sell space to had 3 shops on the high st. and varied the prices and sales pitches/personel - they'd get teh salw, teh only variable was from which shop?
