Examining the Link-Vault Network

I stumbled across this site the other day and it seemed relatively new. From the website:
Link Vault is made up of a large group of quality websites. Each new member must bring to the network at least one high quality website and make available a few links slots for existing members. In return you receive 'Vaultage' which you use to receive links from the other members websites.
Each website added to the network will be vetted by a person before any links are placed to ensure it meets our strict quality guidelines. Should you wish to use your Vaultage quota to provide text link adverts to a website not in the system, then this website will also need to pass the vetting.
Link Vault is completely free and the set up is straightforward, flexible and easily customized. All the links are static, unless you delete them or the site is removed. You also have full control over the number of text links you receive.
I can't help feeling nervous about networks of any kind. As Mikkel has pointed out; being associated with a group opens you up their collective liabilities. However we did have a look at the coop ad network last year so I thought this may be of interest.

From Alan Webb
links are thematic and it's pretty well done, there were good reports from people who beta tested it....

Overall, like any network
Overall, like any network this one is being abused by a few. Still, if you're one of those sites that has all the authority in the world and needs a few low grade links, good place to be.
Gurtie -- links are not that great and there is a certain amount of abuse.
I look at it as an old fashioned webring with a new twist or two.

Either way, good or bad, it can be used to either boost your site or destroy a competitors site. Up to you...
Over 5,000 links so far
If anyone wants a poke around in the control panel I believe you can register without adding code to your site or anything and just look around.
I'm using Link Vault and have gained over 5,000 links *gradually* for our sites.
They have had a few growing pains as it's grown quite quickly and had to move to new servers. This has been frustrating, but seems as if they are getting ahead of the game now.
The results for me have been excellent so far, with links (so far) from pages with PageRank up to PR5 being directed to my sites.
Anyone looking for static, one way links from 1,000's of sites ... all on different c-class ip blocks link vault is definitely worth a look.
