sk Jeeves Gets in More Trouble with MySearch
Story Text:
Ask Jeeves owned MySearch is in the spotlight again with allegations of it's toolbar infecting millions of browsers without user consent. We first bought up the topic of Ask Jeeves and spyware in January, in May they denied the spyware claims but the scandal persists, and there certainly looks to be enough smoke to suggest a fire...

But MySearch may have a legal problem. Last month, a Harvard Law School student named Ben Edelman asked a pesky question: how the heck does Ask Jeeves get toolbars like MySearch onto millions of computers around the world—toolbars that generate a large portion of its search revenue, and sit on the computers of many users such as myself who never wanted it in the first place? Edelman is not only a law-school student but a self-styled spyware researcher and an expert on obtrusive advertising on the Net. His technical savvy and stubborn persistence is a thorn in the side of many Internet entrepreneurs who attempt to distribute their products aggressively to users who don't want them.

Bad Jeeves! In yer basket...
