The company has reserved additional space at its headquarters in the Gasworks on Barrow Street,Dublin 4. Google is expected to expand its headquarters to about 100,000 square feet and market sources said that companies like Google typically worked off an assumption of 200 square feet per employee, which would equate to 500 employees.
In a country of 3 million people, that is a lot of Google employees! Wonder what they all will be doing, apart from drinking Guiness. They don't need that many AdWords reps.

Operating Site
I think Ireland is one of Google's major operating sites, running many of the servers which answer search queries.
(I believe the idea is to have several such big sites around the world and that at least one of them is in day time. No idea how many there actually is)
Dublin process all UK payments
and god knows they could do with some more help around the end of the month.
Yeah
I think its mostly admin and legal they deal with for Europe as a whole, data centre there too. Ireland is very active in securing overseas investment, I'm sure they offered G a very good deal [very low corporation tax rate too].
