I never did really get into him, but the Movie of the famous book was fantastic, and i know he's one of Ivana's favorites - apparently he always said he would suicide eventually...

He Stuck a Cord
Were I live in Guatemala there are a stack of what I call really hippies. They took off from the States and Europe in the 60’s about the time Haight Ashbury went bad and never looked back. Interesting group but they are deeply in mourning of his death. I think why he touched a cord with them is the way he looked at the craziness of the world.
He also had a certain command of the English language that is greatly missing today. Even in later writing it was missing. Very descriptive. I always loved the title of the book about the yuppies of the 80’s. Generation of Swine: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the 80’s. The title alone hit it on the head.
*sigh*
The US cannot afford to lose any of its fearless, honest voices right now... and he was a big one.
