Republishing Posts

SEO Training.

I swear i did not know!

I just went to check my email and found Rich Ord had asked me for permission to repost selected threadwatch threads at WPN (along with zawodny, rubel,et al) lol!

So, should i do it? I like Rich, but that's no basis for a decision like this. I guess what im asking is if this is a good move for Threadwatch or not, and what the implications, if any, are.

I think it depends on what you're looking to get ouf of syndication, and how you measure its success. It is perhaps worth considering if you want to garner links -- Jason's article that I referenced has links to two websites, for example. It may also feature into a branding aspect, in that continued article syndication may generate a pervasive notion of Threadwatch as a brand.

That said, Threadwatch is, in large part, keeping an eye on other websites -- taking note of the (considered) important parts of forums and blogs etc. This may not be the best content for the WebProNews audience, so who knows how well it would go over.

I think if Monsieur Ord is asking for permission, and you're considering it, you could give it a trial run and see how it goes -- I suspect you'll need to have defined ways of measuring the success of the syndication and what impact it has on Threadwatch, though. You've talked about trying to improve permanence at Threadwatch, so you'd have to ask how republishing the content elsewhere (outside of RSS feeds) helps or hinders that.

Bell curve

Where do you want to be on and how quickly do you want to progress along that Bell curve?

implications?

Copyright for a start, which remains with the applicable members.

Well...

Ultimately, it depends on what you want to get out of Threadwatch. What is its market audience?

And would such an arrangement benefit WPN more than TW?

I think...

at worst it does no harm, at best it would expose Threadwatch to more people. What i've noticed is that from time to time, we have spikes in traffic and jumps in rss subscriptions when we get a major link from somewhere - but after a few days, that spike goes down, and the rss levels out at just above where it was to start with.

Meaning, that although WPN may send folks here that are not the best audience for TW, they wont hang around - but those that do get it, will.

We will see, i've told Rich to go ahead, but to check with me about reprinting member posts - as i will have to ask their permission first of course (thanks Woz!)

Hope

Let's just hope this place doesn't fill up with "me to" and "how do I get past PR3?" posts. :)

You think i'd let that happen?

heh...

I've always maintained that to make an omlette, you gotta be prepared to break a few eggs :) If we get stuff like that, i'll remove it.
