Ethics

Should ethics be lumped in with all the other crazy topics that cause mayhem.

I have seen a great number of decent threads, not just here, but everywhere, de-railed when ethics got in the way when it reared its head.

I am not saying that ethics are bad or that people should not think about them and apply different ones to suit their chosen way of life.

But do we have to degrade to ethics every time? Sometimes it is not just about ethics, there are more interesting things to discuss/think about.

Stiring the pot

The thread SEW has about the Link tool is a great example of a potentially good thread derailed by ethics and agendas...

This is the benefit of VB's ignore list.

Forum ignore lists?

Wow. I wish more forum software had that feature... I've seen a few sites that will let you exclude people from your own threads, but you can't blot them completely from your sight.

Ignore lists don't do that.

They just replace the "ignored" post with an almost blank one, which takes up the same amount of space, and is just as annoying. At least where I tried them...

Satisfaction me thinks

I am liking the idea, and if I thought someone was such a complete putz I would take a little pleasure from knowing that I can see their ramblings.

I wonder which lists I am on :-)
