Looks like eBay is acquiring StumbleUpon

According to TechCrunch eBay has beat out two other potential suitors (AOL & Google) and has signed a term sheet with the toolbar based social network StumbleUpon. TechCrunch has the deal at between $40 - $75 million while Gigaom is saying $40 - $45 million.

That's it?

I would have thought Stumbleupon was worth more...good pickup for eBay. Though Gigaom gives the approach as a means to get around Google I sort of saw it a different way:
Feeds of product auctions based on a person's interest via stumbling, and using a person's auction bidding habits to determine future stumbles...not a bad fit at all.

Guess it's just rumors

Chris Sherman just said he talked to the co-founder and it's just rumors.

The blogosphere is abuzz with rumors that eBay is acquiring StumbleUpon, but they're "just rumors," Garrett Camp, one of StumbleUpon's founders just told me on the phone. "There have been rumors before and that's what they are now," Camp said.

Of course, if the company is in play Camp would likely be bound by non-disclosure agreements, so the rumors could possibly turn out to have some merit.
