Samsung has announced that their first quarter profit has fallen 15% on the same period last year, their worse earnings report in four years.
Stronger-than-expected demand for DRAM chips in 2006 prompted manufacturers to switch more production capacity to DRAM from less-profitable NAND flash, leading to an oversupply of DRAM, while demand linked to Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system has been sluggish.
Is this the first sign that Vista has been a marketing flop? MS will still have Vista installed on new computers but losing out on the upgrades would hit them hard. I’ve had a quick look at the system and I'm struggling to see a reason to upgrade from XP. Do any TW members know of any?
