ICANN rejected .xxx:
"To assume an ongoing management and oversight role regarding Internet content is inconsistent with ICANN's technical mandate," read a rejection of the .xxx proposal adopted by the ICANN board.
I'll stand by my original assessment, the first time this came up: bad idea and poorly executed on that bad idea.
That suggestion that massive pre-registration of XXX domains was a sign of support for the TLD was embarassingly stupid, and that alone should have provided reason to kill the idea.
