Digital identity event at Future Salon
Thread Description:
Nial Kennedy has some nice recordings of a presentation at Future Salon on Digital Identity including Eric Sachs of Google who talked about Orkut and Gmail and some of the issues surrounding digital identity and what G feel users want and need.
It's a worthy listen though their is little of surprise in the talk...

Personalized search
It was interesting to hear that most people were not in favor of personalized search due to the feedback. There was some discussion of A9 and whether it would turn around and sell the data it collects to organizations the same way it shares its information with Amazon.com.
Personalization
Nial, i'd completely forgotten you'd signed in here a while back :) now you're out of lurk mode, introduce yourself!
What were the reasons against personalization? I see this as one of the major ways forward for Google, im really looking forward to see how their lab efforts work out and how they get integrated into the main system eventually. I can't think of any good reason not to like that?
Added: On re-reading your comment i assume when you say "feedback" you mean the data collected by Google etc in order to personalize their search services?
