Looks like Google is testing the placement of a companies stock symbol below or next to the description for public companies showing up in the SERPS.

Click on the link and a nice little drop down gives you a brief overview of the company.

yeah, i see it (US). seems like a decent interface with the serps, nicely done. BUT, another move toward becoming a portalized non-portal.

yep they were going to make it free in exchange for placing ads, not sure how thta panned out.

Coincidence?

Nice UI addition. I wonder if it is a coincidence that Google released this tweak now.

Friday's Media Post Blog of the top [url="http://blogs.mediapost.com/research_brief/?p=1374"]10 Financial News and Information Sites[/url] showed Google Finance conspicuously absent.

Adding stock quotes to the SERP might change that pretty quickly, although it will be hard to measure and harder to monetize.

The bickering back and forth

The bickering back and forth ended after Google was able to get the data for a flat monthly fee...the bickering was because the NYSE wanted to charge like $1 per month per user.
